Meaning of Rear Allies

In the U.S. military, a Rear Detachment is the unit that remains stateside when Troops deploy. Rear Detachments play a critical role in maintaining operational continuity by supporting communication, accountability, readiness, and family coordination throughout the deployment cycle.

Rear Allies is inspired by this foundational concept. We exist to complement Rear Detachment efforts by focusing on areas that fall outside formal military structures: personal wellness, emotional grounding, and morale support for Troops who are deployed and transitioning home.

Jannette Goss is an Army National Guard Non-Commissioned Officer with over 12 years of combined military and government experience in financial management and acquisition operations. She currently serves in a federal role overseeing Soldier and civilian pay operations, managing financial care and compensation for more than 14,000 service members and civilian employees. Her work directly supports operational readiness, compliance, and the timely delivery of critical pay and benefits.

Drawing on her deployment experience and firsthand understanding of the emotional and operational demands placed on service members, Jannette founded Rear Allies to provide thoughtfully curated care packages and wellness-focused support to deployed and returning troops. The organization reflects her belief that readiness includes not only physical and financial stability, but also mental well-being, dignity, and intentional care.

In her leadership role, Jannette provides strategic direction, ensures compliance with nonprofit governance standards, and aligns program execution with mission impact bridging military discipline, financial rigor, and creative design to support those who serve.
